How to Play Lagos Life on Your Phone (No App Needed)

You don't need an app to play Lagos Life on your phone — it runs right in your mobile browser. Open the game site, create your Lagosian, and play. Here's how to set it up properly on Android and iPhone so it feels like a native app.

First: there is no official Lagos Life app

Let's clear this up before anything else, because the Play Store and random APK sites are full of traps. Lagos Life is a web-only game — no Android app, no iPhone app, no APK. Anything calling itself the "Lagos Life app" on a third-party site is fake. The real game lives in the browser, and that's all you need. More on this in is Lagos Life free.

Playing on Android (Chrome)

  1. Open Chrome and go to the official game site (grab the link from our download page).
  2. Create your Lagosian if you haven't yet — our character setup walkthrough covers the first five minutes.
  3. Tap the three-dot menu → "Add to Home screen." Chrome will drop an icon on your home screen with the game's look.
  4. From now on, tap that icon and the game opens in its own window — no address bar, no tabs. It feels like an app because, for your purposes, it is one.

Playing on iPhone (Safari)

  1. Open Safari and head to the official game site.
  2. Tap the Share button (the square with the arrow) → "Add to Home Screen."
  3. Name it whatever you like and tap Add. The icon lands on your home screen and launches the game full-screen.

One iPhone note: use Safari rather than an in-app browser (like the one inside Instagram or X) — the standalone Safari session keeps you signed in properly.

Making it run smoothly

  • Use a modern browser with JavaScript enabled — that's the default, so you almost certainly already qualify.
  • WiFi beats mobile data for your first session, though the game is light and won't punish your data plan.
  • Don't clear the site's cookies unless you want to sign in again — the game keeps you logged in with a cookie.
  • Portrait or landscape both work. Play however your thumbs prefer; knocking on doors doesn't demand precision.

Why browser-only is actually good news

No 500MB download. No "your device isn't compatible." No update that breaks everything the night before you planned to play. Your Lagosian lives on the web, so it follows you from your phone to your laptop to your friend's tablet without a second thought. On a bigger screen? Our Lagos Life for PC guide covers the desktop experience.
